Church Responsibility
Home  >  Explore WorkLife  >  Responsibility of the Local Church

God has entrusted the local church with the blessing and calling of representing Him in the various mission fields of the world. Your work communities represent a vast and largely unreached mission field in which your members live and work as "insiders" everyday. This community of people is waiting to experience the transforming power of Christ.

But the realities concerning Christians in the Workplace and the results that adversely impact many churches today are serious. The following information comes from years of surveying actual church members and hearing similar themes:

Reality

Result

1. Most Christians feel a great gap between their Sunday morning faith and their Monday morning reality.  Today, answers to these important questions come primarily from outside the local church.

Walls of frustration can be built between believers and their church.

2. Most Christians see no purpose for their work.  They believe they work to survive or only to give money so that others can minister.

Walls of separation can be built between believers and their unique life mission and the calling God has prepared for them.

3. The church in the Western World today is largely ineffective at shaping the culture in which it lives. The majority of people in the community today see the church investing only in what goes on inside the church.

Walls of division often exist between the church and the very community it is called to reach and serve.

Your church has the opportunity to change this pattern and the realities that surround them. As your church assumes its rightful and biblical role (Eph. 4:11-12) in the worklives of its people - positive change will start.  Click here to view a partial list of churches that have made this commitment.  Also read the case studies of some of those churches.
